These are two of my most favorite books, On this hill top, and A Country Year, both written by Sue Hubbell. For a while she lived in the Ozarks near the town of Mountain View on a hill high above the Jacks Fork River. Her books are filled with wonderful tales about nature that you should enjoy. The land she lived on in the the Ozarks is now the Barn Hollow Nature Area. You can go visit and see where the house once was and the fields and forest that she wrote about.
