Fun on the Courtois Creek Section and at Bass' River Resort

Last weekend I celebrated my birthday with friends and family along the Ozark Trail. We stayed at Bass' River Resort in the Buck Lodge cabin which is actually located right on the Ozark Trail. The cabin is beautiful, has a large kitchen/living room that is great for gatherings, a fireplace, 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms, a deck and an outside campfire ring. The weekend was full of fun, playing games together, great food, mountain bike rides and hikes. Here we are gathered for a great breakfast on Sunday morning. Below is the fireplace and the big Buck-thus the name- "Buck Lodge".The view out back from the deck of the cabin. Below is a view through the trees of the Huzzah. This is just above Bat Cave, and in the Huzzah Conservation Area in the "Narrows" (Page 28 in The Ozark Trail Guidebook) We started at Bass' Resort and went into the Narrows then down to Bat Cave, and then turned around and went back. From Bat Cave the trail is an old road and several of the puddles like this have salamander eggs in them. The trail changes to singletrack and goes past this great overlook spot. Down in the valley is the Huzzah.
In areas the trail is lined by the beautiful shades of greens of the many types of lichens and mosses.
The trail passes this wet season waterfall. Then comes down the hill to Bass' River Resort. At the entrance to Bass' the trail continues on the gravel road to the crossing of the Courtios Creek. Today the low water bridge at the crossing was under water.
