Big Spring- Work day Saturday

On Saturday the Ozark Trail Association will hold a Mini-Mega event and work on the connecting trail to Big Spring. Big Spring, is located in the Ozark National Scenic Riverway Area, near Van Buren, Missouri. The spring is the largest freshwater spring in North America flowing at about 280 million gallons a day, which is a lot of water. The OTA will provide free camping on Friday and Saturday nights, lunch Saturday and a BBQ Saturday after the work day. The OTA will also have a raffle Saturday evening so bring your wallets and join in the fun! For more info on the work day click here
Volunteers should bring their own snacks and water to take on the trail. Please wear sturdy boots, dress in layered clothing to beat the morning chill and afternoon heat, and bring work gloves if you have them. The park has some wonderful "rustic" cabins with electric, and indoor plumbing, kitchen, wood burning fireplaces. They might not have air conditioning, but who needs that. The park has several hiking trails, and I just love the rocky landscape, true "Ozark" ground. This old beer can is out along the trail. -Enjoy!
